What spray foam does

Spray foam insulation helps seal and insulate at the same time. It can reduce drafts and air leakage, improve comfort, and help your heating and cooling system run more efficiently.

Great for:

  • Drafty rooms and cold floors

  • Basement rim joists

  • Crawlspaces and problem areas

  • Attics and rooflines

  • Garages and additions home

Where we use spray foam

  • Rim Joist / Basement Band Board (major draft area)

  • Crawlspaces

  • Attics / Rooflines

  • Basements

  • Additions & Renovations

  • Garages / Workshops

Why homeowners choose spray foam

  • Draft reduction: Helps stop air movement through gaps and cracks

  • Comfort: Warmer in winter and more stable temperatures

  • Efficiency: Heating and cooling doesn’t have to work as hard

  • Moisture control: Helps reduce unwanted air-driven moisture movement

  • Great for problem areas: Rim joists and crawlspaces where traditional insulation struggles

What is spray foam insulation?
Spray foam insulation is a high-performance material that expands when applied, helping seal gaps and reduce air leakage. It improves comfort by reducing drafts and heat loss, and it can also help limit moisture movement that rides along with air leaks.

Where does spray foam make the biggest difference?
Spray foam often makes the biggest comfort impact at rim joists, crawlspaces, and drafty problem areas, where air leakage is common and traditional insulation doesn’t always seal well.

Is spray foam better than blown-in?
They do different jobs. Spray foam is excellent for air sealing and tight/awkward areas (like rim joists and crawlspaces). Blown-in insulation is great for coverage, especially in attics. We’ll recommend what fits your home and the area being insulated.

Will insulation help my heat pump perform better?
In most cases, yes. Reducing drafts and heat loss helps any heating and cooling system—mini-splits, heat pumps, or central systems—hold temperature more easily and run more efficiently.

How much does spray foam insulation cost in Nova Scotia?
Costs vary based on foam type, thickness/R-value, access, and the area being insulated, but spray foam is commonly priced by the square foot (or board foot). A typical installed range you’ll often see is about $2.50 to $6.50 per sq. ft., depending on the project. The best way to know for sure is a quote based on your home.

Is spray foam insulation worth it in Nova Scotia?
For many homes, yes—especially with our climate and long heating season. Spray foam can reduce drafts, improve comfort, and reduce energy waste, which often translates into lower operating costs and better day-to-day comfort.

How long does spray foam insulation last?
Spray foam can last 30+ years when properly installed and protected, making it one of the longest-lasting insulation options for a home.

Who should consider spray foam insulation installation?
Homeowners dealing with drafts, cold floors, high heating bills, uneven temperatures, or moisture/condensation issues—or anyone planning HVAC upgrades and wanting the home envelope to perform better.
